So I picked up a Taser JL Mini for my '21 Gladiator. I enabled the rear view camera when the turn signals are used and noticed the radio volume drops when the back up camera is on. Annoying.

But the kicker is sometimes the back up camera doesn't shut off even after the switch is returned to off. And the volume stays low in the radio. really annoying.

Other times the camera input does turn off when the signal switch is returned to off but the volume on the radio stays low. Really fucking annoying.

Is this just a Jeep thing (Taser really, I'm being facetious) and I just need to get used to it? Or is this an anomoly?

I have avoided the Taser and other programers for the very reasons you listed. Glitches, lots of glitches

I tried to but I wasn't paying to update my tire size after I put larger diameter tires on. Also, I loath pushing that damn Auto Stop/Start every time I get in go. I figured by now they would have this kind of stuff worked out.

Try this - put the front camera app on the quick menu bar in the center display. Stock, it deactivates over a certain speed, turns the app icon gray, and won't respond to pressing it. Tazer has a feature to reactivate the front camera at any speed. Go for a drive, and see how often that app icon changes from gray to white and back, as the Tazer's program fights against the stock program. Several times a second sometimes. That's what's happening everywhere the Tazer touches. Not a surprise that it glitches sometimes and happens to miss a quick tap of the mute button or whatever

One thing you can do, is set the static functions like tire size, then disconnect it before driving. You'll miss the live features like start-stop disable and turn cam but won't have the glitchy experience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you on the most recent firmware? Have you tried unmarrying/remarrying?

Mine does the same thing but only when using carplay. If I am using anything but carplay, it functions 100% fine, volume doesn't change, camera comes on and off as intended. It's odd.

Note: Tazer Firmware version 11.4.3 was a bad release. Update to 11.4.4 if you can. Because 11.4.3 was a bad release, some Tazers will not update to 11.4.4. If that happens to you, like it happened to me, you have to send your Tazer back for a free repair. Get a return number by chatting with them through email. They will get your Tazer back to you within a few days. Z-Automotive has excellent, super fast service for this issue.
My Tazer had a few glitches on 11.4.3, so, I wanted to update to 11.4.4; and this is when I found the issue - unable to update from 11.4.3.
For me, even with this small issue, the Tazer is a fantastic buy during the last 3 years. I love the product, and also use many of the Live features off road. I have done many upgrades to my JTR, and I consider the Tazer one of the best upgrades and a fantastic value.

Recently, I noticed the license plate lights are no longer turning off while in reverse gear. Haven't done any troubleshooting yet - this thread reminded me to get off my ass. Thanks!

I forgot to mention it seems to be only when using Car Play. Still doesn't make sense but that is a limiting condition of the symptom.

I'll keep an eye for that. So far that is working as intended for me.

I'll double check to make sure but I think it had the latest firmware.

It's actually the back up camera as I don't have the front facing trail camera.

I have run into this as well, I have the programing so that when you hit one of the cruise control buttons something happens. In reverse, if I see my lights on, I'll disconnect the swaybar real quick or flash one of the light modes and it turns them off.
