I know there is some knowledgeable people on here that can help.
I’ve got a IH Scout that I installed a 8.1L in. I have the original ECM. Starting for the first time. Trouble code P1626-anti-theft fuel rail shut down seems to be the problem. Anyone know how to bypass?
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure you are gonna need to have all the anti-theft written out of the ECM.

You will either need the entire wiring harness for the 8.1 so that you can twist together all the different pigtails that would have been going to some sensor/relay/etc. that you don’t currently have such that you “trick” the ECM into believing everything is in order OR get the ECM reflashed to remove all these things. A reflash is what I’d recommend because it guarantees that you’ve covered your bases and you don’t have to worry about tracking down the right pigtail when something inevitably comes loose down the road. Much cleaner install.

We have the entire wire harness from the donor vehicle minus the BCM which has the password that deactivates the code.
Long story short. I purchased the motor in 2009 with transmission, ECM and harness. I witnessed it run out of the donor vehicle (‘04 2500 Suburban) on a pallet. I took/bought everything except the 5 gallon bucket of fuel that allowed it to run.
Fast forward to today. Tried to start for the first time since ‘09. Scanner only has 1 code P1626.

My limited ECM experience and research says the BCM is what clears the code. I do not remember seeing or talking with the person that I bought the motor from about a BCM being needed. Just thinking something simple was missed on my end. The harness was already set up for the Scout swap when purchased.

Retune of the motor is part of the plan. I can’t do it but have a shop that can. Not available to talk too till next week. I was hoping to get running and clean everything up before retune.

I've done Jeep builds in the past and after hours and days tracking and figuring wiring out and computers and sensor I've decided its easier and cheaper in the long run to have someone like painless or one of the other builders build you a plug and play wiring harness to eliminate all the unwanted sensor etc. Last I ran into it was my 51 Plymouth Savoy Suburban we put a 6.4 out of a 16 Scat pack Challenger they built a harness we told what we needed plugged it in and works perfect no issues. Good luck
