My rural route carrier
surprised me today with a
Wrangler JL equipped with
a Right Hand Drive conversion kit.

I forgot to ask which one it was.
It may be a Pedal Pros
or a Vantastic Mobility.

Of course a factory RHD Gladiator
is available if you can find one
but resale may be difficult.
These kits allow them to be restored to LHD.

And when not stuffing rural mailboxes
they can be driven LHD
for less white knuckle passing.

"Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat,
nor gloom of night
stays these couriers
from the swift completion
of their appointed rounds,"
or deep sand, muddy ruts
and washboard county roads.

Feels even weirder driving a left hand drive on the wrong side of the road. :CWL:
That's the way it is in the US Virgin Islands. At least Wranglers are common rental cars in the USVI, so I was driving a familiar vehicle, which helps.

A friend of mine has an imported RHD Nissan Silvia. We swapped vehicles for a week or so, and I was surprised how quick and easy it was to get used to driving it. Even shifting with the left hand was not an issue at all. The only thing that took a minute was turn signal stalk is on the right side of the wheel, so I kept hitting the wipers the first few times when trying to signal a turn.

When I was younger, a friend had an imported Mazda Savanna (Japanese RX7) that was RHD. We used to have a lot of fun on the highway, where I would sit in the passenger seat with my hands behind my head pretending to be asleep.

I learned stick on a right hand drive and found shifting with the left hand to be intuitive for me. I felt I had better control steering with the dominant hand. It just felt right shifting and e braking with my left. Which Silvia were you in?

When I was stationed in West Germany
I bought a VW, LHD of course.
Driving it on leave in England
was a harrowing experience.

He has an S14. He had it imported in 2010-ish IIRC, fought with the state about registration for over a year, but was eventually able to get it registered as an S14 Silvia. Whoever he bought it from put some money into it and it was done well. Full proper cage, Bride and HKS everything.

It had low miles when he bought it, and when I had it for a bit I felt bad because I had to drive it to and from work. I told him I didn't want to rack up miles on his car and he told me not to worry, he bought it to drive it and didn't care if I put 200 or 2,000 miles on. Go enjoy it.

Interesting you mentioned that. I always figured that shifting left handed as a right handed person would be weird and awkward.

I was talking with a few of my mail carriers on that they are offered fairly good deal on ordering a right hand drive JL/JLU or JT's where I'm at. Might be why one of them has several Jeeps, 2 XJ's and JKU many of their concerns is all the problems some have on JL-JT lines as one had rear axle failure and another motor failure. Of course they blow right through the mileage warranty in no time 2 years 3 at best. One of the XJ's is over well over 300k. Most of the XJ's have converted to right hand drive a few factory ones around too.

Nice!! I had an R33 gts-25t type M when I was in Japan. 4 door sleeper. 2.8 Tomei kit installed and it was just a beast!! Had a “guy” for JCI so didn’t have to install everything every time it was up. Almost considered an S-15 but the Skyline was at a better price. Wish I could have brought it back with me.
