Gorilla glass BS!

Got my 2022 Gladiator Ecodiesel with Gorilla glass in February. Had it in the the shop for 3 months for an electrical gremlin that seems to be fixed now. Saleman sold me on the Gorilla Glass warranty and toughness. Absolute BS! Cracked just as easy as any other Jeep windshield. Selling point was it would be replaced under warranty for regular rock chip damage. Filed a claim yesterday and they came back that Factory installed Gorilla glass is exempt the Gorilla glass warranty. Even the jeep service advisor thought that was insane. Im done.

It seems this is a common complaint with Gorilla Glass. I initially kicked myself for not opitng for it, but in the little under a year I've had my truck it really hasn't been an issue. My dealer sold me 5 years of windshield replacements for like $300 and I've cashed in on it once exactly.

I suppose the glass, regardless of tenacity, cannot out do the laws of physics on a nearly vertical windshield.

Yah, its worthless! They had me believe the Gorilla glass warranty was straight forward. They got me. I'll pay my windshield deductible and have it replaced with standard glass.

My factory GG was replaced by the dealer under a factory defect. Now it is under the vendor warranty since it is dealer install so I am good for the next 2 years. Then after that my insurance replaces with whatever was OEM on my car which is GG. I like it also for the light weight which is about 40 percent less.

I found the film from grab-gard.com is really the only way I could stop broken windshields. Where I live, my jeep friends constantly are getting broken windshields without the film. With the film, it seems to be saving us money.

No one said it won't crack or chip. RESISTANT, yes, but not "chip-proof" or "crack-proof".
Yes, it's tougher, but the benefits are in lighter weight, quicker defrost/defog, and in a frontal collision, you won't have glass shards in the face. It protected driver and passenger in event of impact to the windshield.
Since the outer layer is still soda-lime glass, it's gonna chip, just not as often or easily.

That's the only real problem I see with it - mixed messages on the warranty, and the factory installs having a different coverage for some weird reason. GG is GG, whether installed by dealer or factory. It should be covered the same.
But if you look at the provisions of any of the glass warranties, they make it pretty much impossible to get it covered. It must be this size but not that size and it's like - who the heck EVER gets a rock chip of that size?? It's as bad as saying if the crack or chip is smaller than 15 feet across, we won't cover it. Yeah, read the fine print on those glass warranties. Take 100 glass hits - odds are that not even 1 out of 100 would qualify according to the size specs in the warranties.
I bought what the dealer was selling as far as glass warranties. I figure two windshield replacements and I will almost have my money back (insurance has a high deductible) and it will be less hassle. It gets chipped, it's covered. If it cracks, it's covered. None of this "if it's less than xx we won't cover it" bs.
The only caveat is that I must report any damage within 24 hours, etc. etc. so they do leave an out, but they would have to prove that the damage happened a week ago and not today.
