Thank you....the build starting as the ship date was my suspicion
BSchowppel- What did you order exactly? Were they able to confirm the towing capacity? Is it 6350? Any idea on hitch/Tongue weight rating? Thanks!

SPORT S w/3.0 Ecodiesel....max tow isn't available with the diesel, most likely due to the specialized transmission. I've read that tow capacity will probably be rated around the figure you mentioned, 6k or so.

Newbie here. I Just joined the forum a few days ago and I am hooked. This is way better than porn. :) . The threads are super informative and useful. I am here because I decided that I will purchase my first Jeep later this year (or at least I will try to), so I am soaking on all the information I can about pricing, build, etc. After months of deliberation, I really favor the Gladiator, so I am opting for an Overland. I've been playing around with Jeep's online tool, building and pricing several configurations. The least pricey configuration that I would like to purchase came out to be an estimated $50,055 MSRP. I've also been reading up on invoice pricing here in the forum, to see how much of a difference there is with MSRP. This same configuration comes down to $47,408 FWP, or invoice price. Both prices shown include the $1,495 destination charge, and a $1,000 "2021 Manufacturer Bonus Cash".

I decided to post about this because today I finally took the time to visit my first dealer (I am in Tampa Bay, BTW) and try my luck sitting down with a salesman. We talked about the car for a few minutes, I explained my intention to place an order for the 2021 model (he did mention he had some 2020 models in the lot), and he proceeded to build the configuration as I wanted it. He then asked me for some time, while his manager priced the vehicle for me. Almost half an hour passed, and he came out with this sheet (see the pic). You have to be kidding me! I asked him are you really asking me to pay over MSRP? Not only the sales price is over MSRP, but he added $1K accessory fee for tinted windows. "We add windows treatments to all of our cars", he said. Yes, but this one is not on your lot; I am ordering it. Anyway I am not that worried about the add-ons; I think I can get rid of them; but the sales price? That $51K+ is even before the destination charge.

Today was a reality check for me of the pains and tribulations that await me in the next 90 days while I try to place an order for the Gladiator Overland. The first thing I did when I got home was to visit the Tread Lightly website and sign up for the $100 individual membership. I did that in the hopes that I can place an order sometime in October with an FCA discount. But even with an FCA discount code in hand, I have no guarantees that a dealer in my area will accept it. It looks like other members in the forum have had dealers decline to honor the FCA discount.

Anyway, it's been 15 years since I purchased by last brand new vehicle, a Honda Element EX which I am still driving. (It is older than my kids!) So I am really looking forward to another 15 with this Jeep.

I would love to hear about other members experiences trying to order and negotiate pricing for their 2021 Gladiator!

My dealership told me there's no negotiating with an ordered rig....they said especially for a new model year, they won't have a problem selling it.
Now, they also said the quoted price is worst case....if the parts etc cost less, they'd pass those 'savings' on to me.

Interesting. DO you know if they will honor an FCA discount? Or not even that?

I would never do business with a dealer that requires “mandatory accessories,” especially at that price. The pre-service delivery fee is already figured into the destination fee—don’t pay it again! I would look for other dealers.

Is due in first week of October. Just got thru inspection.
If you've not done the final paperwork, watch for changes. Like my dealership said, the numbers COULD be better, but only if the parts etc cost less. I'll do what I can to get the price down, but at order time didn't feel like the negotiating time.

I feel good about my deal and the dealer. I’m dealing with Travis at Tri City. He does a lot of business with members here on the forum and has a great reputation.

When I placed my order for 2021 Mojave, My dealership initially quoted me around 1500 off MSRP without my even asking. They also had no problem honoring the FCA 1% below invoice. I know it isn't the best deal out there, but I would rather work with this very small dealer that is close to me than the a place in a different state. They are also not killing me with processing fees etc. Some places try to charge upward to $999 for that BS.
I can also say that almost all dealerships around me are shady as f*ck. I even had one in Mendon MA try to quote me full MSRP for an overland during the Employee pricing event in July. Plus quoted me 6k less for my trade than even CarMax quoted me for it. The sales person flat out told me there were no discounts. Of course the only reason I was testing the vehicle in question was because their website had it "priced" at 6k below MSRP. The bait and switch crap with "online pricing" should be illegal. But that is another topic... I point this out because with all the running around I have done, I have found that these vermin will feed off of you if they sense any sort of excitement toward the purchase. If I were you I would walk away if they refuse to negotiate. Your custom order can sit on their lot and they will have to pay the note on it until it sells. I would also suggest calling them out on these public forums. Let others know where NOT to shop for a vehicle.
