There IS enough room behind the rear seats for 3 long guns using a soft Molle set up and either gun socks or soft rifle cases. This area DOES qualify for secured if you lock the seat backs with a key.

If you want a more secure set up, it's going to cost, but it's available. DECKED has long gun racks (horizontal carry) for it's wider drawer and has locks available for the drawers. So if you lock the drawers, lock the tailgate, and have a bed cover, they can't get to your guns.
Yea, that is a great solution which I looked at first but I don't see that in my Mojave. I will take another look though.

What model Gladiator do you have that you can fit 3 long guns behind the rear seat?

`20 Rubi. Have to keep them as low as possible and if you have any large scopes then it's a no go with the scopes in the rings.

Thanks for the tips...My AR has an expensive red dot so I'll take that off the list, M1A and SG all iron, so we will see. Well you encouraged me, at least I should be able to get a pistol or two in there without the hard-cases, will need to get some "soft-socks" for them though.

The Decked system is nice. My cousin has one and is able to store the shotguns, etc in locked storage in the bed and attach the Gunner dog crate on top of that. Nice solution for pheasant hunting.

I usually cut a 2x8 to size to fit across the bed in the grooves behind the wheel wells. You could install mounting points or tie down points on the board to secure them or at least minimize the sliding around to the area near the tailgate. I plan on bedlining my board and installing generic tiedown points to make my bed more useful for small loads under the bed cover. It's a great way to secure your cooler behind the tailgate. You can always pull it out.

I should make some for my 3 sons' trucks while I am at it.

For a pistol or 2, you can lock them behind the back seat.

Jus in my back seat. The only really long gun I have is my scar 17 and even in the carrying bag fits perfectly right across the seat.

Way back when I only had my MJ to drive, I bought a cheap sheet metal gun locker installed metal carry handles on it. I had to pick up my Firearms and drive though IL. to S.E. GA. No space I could fit them in it that would lock or give something of security. That was then chained w locks to tie downs in bed then piled rest of my stuff on it. Duffle bags, kit bag, rucksack, camping n fishing gear and my few civ clothes civ duffle bag or two.
The "locker" is now my ammo safe. ;)

Hi Folks, love to shoot and have a nice size collection...

Just got my Mojave 3 weeks ago, absolutely love it, a joy to drive. Only slight "disappointment" is the size of the so called "lockable storage" which can be unbolted and carried also. Anticlimactic given the ta-do they made in the press about it. Why, kinda small, I was hoping I could at least transport a pistol or two in it (if not a rifle), no dice, not even close, just too narrow.

In NJ, unfortunately, all firearms' need to be locked up in a trunk, or an interior spot (which doesn't include the glove box). Or you have to put a lock on the trigger for each firearm in tow.

Don't want to bother with lock and key, so the space left to me is the Truck Bed which does lock like a trunk.

So my question for those of you who carry firearm's (rifle pistol) in the truck bed, what means are you Guys using to tie them down in the bed (to make sure they don't move)?

I also have heavy steel target plates which also need to be secure in the bed from moving.

I am new to Jeep and new to Trucks too (first one) so any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
-Joe
The Ring Mount above the passenger seat helps a lot. The Pig and Ma Deuce love it.

If we're discussing states that suck, here's a fun set of laws:
In Illinois, it IS legal to haul your 48" rifle in the 42" case, with the muzzle sticking out.
But if you're in illinois AND on DNR controlled property, the case must be longer than the gun.

Here's mine ... was a bit hurried today, but I think i'll expand on this with a pair of straps as time permits to hold under the handguard and stock. The seat backs do touch but it's just enough to keep "things" from rattling around.

Which seat back mats are those and how do you like them?
