Hard mounted awnings - are they worth it?

I don't have or want a RTT. Thinking that a small mounted 270 awning with sides will do well as a tent and just sleep in the ARE camper.

The more you are out there, the more you will want a canopy. If you are a "1 - 2 nights per year" camper, probably doesn't make sense. If you get out more and for longer, eventually you will run into weather where you wish that you could be out of your tent or Jeep without getting wet. That is when a canopy really pays off.

Last time I went out for a 2 nighter, 1st night was just overcast. Middle of the 2nd night started sprinkling rain. Was able to get out, prepare breakfast and enjoy the morning under the canopy without worrying about the misting and sprinkling rain.
