@BAT Like you, I have a RAM 1500 (which I love). I also have an LJ. I am combining the two into one vehicle that will work for the family. I have both tops for my LJ. 8 to 9 months of the year, the LJ top (much larger) hangs from the ceiling in my garage. Most days it has no top. If it's going to rain, I'll throw on the soft top.

I was asking myself this same question during this build process. All my quotes had the hard top until I realized....if I wanted a hard top - I'd keep my RAM. I want that top off - ALL OF IT, as much as weather allows.

Soft top it is. Now I just have to choose between Premium and OEM!!

If I had storage I would do dual top but I got no place to store. Even if i took the hard top off I wouldn't have a place to store it.
I think you have your answer. If you will never be able to take it off go soft top for sure.

Long time Jeep Wrangler owner(20+ Jeeps) and we have had many top configurations. Previous generations soft tops were difficult to operate and we preferred aftermarket bikini tops. We currently own both a Wrangler and Gladiator, we had heard so many good things about the JL tops we added to the wrangler this time, it's a game changer for sure and super easy to take up and down. Today I installed the Gladiator soft top and couldn't be happier, Jeep has done an amazing job with these tops. The Gladiator top is much tighter than the wrangler and the noise level is equal to the hardtop. With the doors off we like the top up(sun protection) so this is an excellent choice for this configuration.

Unless security is a concern soft top would be my choice.

What color is that JT. I pretty much looking at Gobi Sport S Max tow but man I saw one of the dealerships here had a Overland in Granite Crystal with a lot of nice features for a really good price. But dang it got hard top and I really want Max Tow not for now but down the line. It really made me stop and think for a second. I really don't want dark color but I do like that Granite Crystal

The color is Granite Crystal, I was a huge fan of the Rubicon wheels and I knew that would be my first addition. They match perfectly to GCM. GOBI was my second choice.

Finding a soft top on the lot is going to be tricky. I ended up having to custom order mine. There was no such thing as a soft top rubicon anywhere. lol

I had a hard top and an OEM soft tp with my JKU. I put the soft top on once, hated it, and never used it again. I had the hard top on half the year, and a Bestop summer top on the other half. That's a tradition I've carried forward with my Gladiator.

I know not running across many on the lot right now maybe when they get some more on the lots or I have looked at ordering one possibly. But I guess if you get soft top you don't get the wiring if you ever move to hard top in the future. Seems kind of silly not to put the wiring on all of them regardless and just hide it

Yes you do get the wiring if your JT comes with the soft top. Mine did, and the wiring is inside a plastic cover near the corner behind the door. There are videos on installing and removing the tops, and you will find the wiring placement in them.

Soft top for sure.
My JTL came with the hardtop. I just got the soft top, and love it.
One step process. Takes about 30 seconds to fold down, and another 30 seconds to put back up. One person task.
no noticeable noise or heat difference.
I don’t think I’ll ever put the hardtop back on!
I do leave the back window installed.
I have a soft top and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I literally open it every time I drive. It’s a lifestyle choice. No doubt. To each their own if they think it looks silly. If it bothers you that much, as has been noted, four bolts and it’s completely off. Oh yeah, the back window and two corner units re-install in 2 minutes....tops.

Good luck I saw nothing. I have probably seen 30ish different JTs on the road in my area. Of them one besides mine had a soft top. I just don't know if they put them on the lots in soft top form, dual top for sure but soft top alone seems to be extremely rare.

The wiring thing is something that all the old JKs did, not sure about the JLs. I will say though unless you find a private party selling their hard top they don't want they are crazy expensive to buy on their own.

Hardtop painted to match looks so much better IMO so I ordered that. You can always buy a soft top later.

Not sure many dealers are ordering dual tops, the soft top box takes up the whole bed. Yes you have the tonneau but I suspect most dealers would remove and store inside to avoid theft. It’s a lot of space. I was able to buy mine new in box but looked everyday.
