Hey @Rex3rd fyi I was just re-reading this thread to see if anyone on this forum has actually taken delivery of a base Sport model with the old fashioned manual windows, mirrors and locks. And I see that still no one has. I see a whole lot of Sport S trucks though. Was really wanting to see pictures of their base Sport rides. In answer to your question about how my order is going it’s still on hold. I wait until I have actually seen a Gobi and a Sting Grey Gladiator before I place my order. I am in zero rush and will need to be happy with my color selection for at least the next 4 to 5 years, or more. I will order a base Sport (not a Sport S) and I got a sneaky feeling that I may end up being the first forum member to post pictures of their base Sport truck on this site.

Will get a stick shift(drove one with a stick about 10 days ago and loved it). Will get the hard top and rubber mats and that’s about it for the factory order.

About a week ago I bought a Mopar hard folding tonneau cover from a dealership that just happened to have one in stock. Am getting a twill Sunrider from Quadratec. I also plan to get a roller mesh sunshade as soon as Bestop has that worked out. I spoke with a guy from Bestop just yesterday and he told me they are working on that and it will be mounted under a Sunrider. Cool item if you ask me. Am also getting a rubber mat to put in the bed of the truck. Need to also figure out how to attach another mat section to the inside of the tailgate. Anyone know how to do that? Love to know. Am also looking around at all step bar companies out there before I decide which set I will get. A couple of the companies have told me they can’t get their hands on a truck so they could then design some step bars. Some said I should see some new ones out at SEMA, another reason for me not to be in a rush to order.

I also have a plan for the teeny tiny base 5 inch stereo system system. Will hit the trash can in less than a weeks time. Plan to put in an aftermarket stereo system with an in dash CD player if there is enough in dash depth for the CD player.

Would also love to put on a set of rear bumper side steps to make it a tad easier climbing into the bed of my truck. If anyone hears of a company coming out with such side steps then please start a thread about that.

And finally about the Jake jokes. Hey it’s all more than fine with me, especially since Jake is just a forum name I created when I signed up for this forum. It’s not my real name, no kidding. Lots of folks here have made up names. It’s a public forum and I try to be a low profile person and to maintain a tad bit on anonymity here. Have come to like it a tad. So everyone can go right on with the Jake from State Farm jokes. Hell to me they are like water rolling off a ducks back. I have seen a lot of State Farm commercials but have to yet seen a Jake from State Farm commercial.

Stay tuned for the pictures of my ride. Give it a few months though and don’t hold your breath waiting to see those pictures. Don’t want anyone getting blue in the face holding their breath that long. My order may take a while. Will let y’all know when I do place it.

Hope everyone here is having fun with their Gladiator rides.

Please post once you get it. I am ordering mine EXACTLY like yours (Sport, manual, hardtop) and in Gobi.

Jake. From State farm. Still gets me every time.

I like your build very much, especially the roll up windows. I'm happy with the stock stuff though. Only thing is I want the wide track, which might get me to an S (so why not go LE...). We'll see what's on sale when I buy. Looking forward to seeing the pics when yours happens!

What a hoot! So he really does exist. Thanks for the video @smlobx. Now I know what (who) y’all have been talking about for so long. Sounds like a good guy. But as for State Farm they suck. Got much better rates now with Geico.

Is it fun having a secret identity? Didn't know there's alot of people making up names on here. Pretty cool

When you say "wide track" here what are you referring to? The only option I can think of that might refer to is the max tow option which I thought was available for both the Sport and Sport S. Just trying to see if I'm missing something here ...

You are right. I just went back into the configurator. Wide track (longer axles), and 4:10, yes, max tow, available on sport and sport s, which I did not remember on both. I just built a pretty cool sport, no tech. Now if I want M/T I lose max tow anyway on all levels, right? I'm in the used market so just looking to see what might be out there in shorter order. Those Avis ones might be priced right and availability by January ish. These things are awesome at sport level. And, no sports on the local lot according to the finder, only sport s.

I haven't seen a video of a review/evaluation for a base Sport yet. I don't think there are any on the ground yet. I've been watching the Jeep inventory search for most of MN and eastern ND and I haven't seen any base Sports yet here. At least there are a handful of manuals now. I'm working in the Twin Cities area next week so I'm hoping to test drive one of those. I would love a manual, but not quite sure yet if I want to give up the max tow option. @5JeepsAz you are correct in that checking the manual transmission box means no max tow is available - even the normal tow rating is significantly lower for the manual. Max 4000 lbs for any non-Rubicon and 4500 lbs for the Rubicon.

About a month ago a dealership in Plainwell,Mi got in a base Sport model that had manual windows, mirrors and locks. Took them about 2 to 3 days to sell it. And I am told that dealerships can now order them.

The reason is because stock sport is as good as a Rubi. Wot?!? Yeah I said it.

I'll admit not as good as an LE.. :like:

I have a sport. Mine does have power windows and locks,Automatic and running boards. It has the small radio and a soft top. Once he hard top comes available I’ll order one. I’ve had it for just over a week and I love it. I really have no complaints.

What you have is a Sport S, is not a base Sport.
