I already have a Lifepod that I either I keep under the seat tethered to the rails or behind the rear seat with the seat-back locked. I actually considered this as an easier way to store stuff (without having to go to the rear and unlock, etc.)... Then I realized, I was just being lazy. In addition to not wanting a loaded pistol at someone's head, and the uncertainty of what would happen to one's head in an accident with an 18-guage steel box by your skull, I also think it would be difficult to be discreet in opening it - let's say in a busy parking lot, or on the street.

If my NYC concealed carry app ever goes through I'll probably buy this as it complies under NYC's stringent gun transportation requirements (glove boxes not eligible).
When did you apply? I got my NYC CCW a few weeks ago. Getting my Sig 365X inspected next week. Took exactly a year.
Its because of NYC's law that I couldn't consider the Console Vault (https://www.consolevault.com/). If I were every to get into a tit-for-tat with the city, I'm sure they'd say that was the "glovebox", even it were reinforced with steel.

Only within the last few weeks. Haven't been fingerprinted yet. What are you using to transport if not the tethered lifepod box?

Why not lock it up in the lockable arm rest or glovebox? The rear seat back rests both lock. Why not stuff it back there?
In CA, a newer law recently passed where your handgun has to be in a locked container should you leave it unattended in your vehicle and the glovebox or center console even when locked are not acceptable. Funny thing is that last time I looked into it......a regular duffel bag with a tiny pad lock on it was legal!

This solution was intriguing when I first saw it, but even I thought it was a bit too much $$$$
