I just removed my rear outboard headrests to install forward-facing Diono Radians, as the top of the carseat contacts the headrest and won't tighten very well.
the pdf's above are great. Just a couple details i found out: the white pushpins on the back are wedged out normally, but the black ones wedge out easy from the lower fat part under the tan board (wedge between the metal and lower fat part, not between the top of the pin and the tan board). Also, after removing the clips at the top, the headrests will come out at that point. No need to remove the plastic posts at all, so no need to dremel or use pliers. If they are a little stubborn, you can tap lightly on the bottom of the chrome to start the headrest coming out.
not too bad of a process - just took about 30 min
