Something strange occurred this evening when I went to start my 2021 Gladiator Willys Sport

I pushed the break pedal and pressed start button as per the norm and the engine started, immediately after the CEL came on along with the error message Not in Park, and ABS maintenance required... at this point I shut it down and started it again and the same thing occurred, I shut it down again and I took the fob and pressed it against the start button and the CEL turned off however now the heater, radio, ASS button, etc. is all non functional.

It still drives and ASS works when stopped, hazard lights function, the reverse camera turns on despite the radio not working, also I don't think the oil temps are reading accurate as it went from 0-187 in a few minutes and its barely 20 degrees out.

I'm going to remove the negative battery terminal in a bit to see if will resolve the issue, i'm just curious if this has happened to anyone?

Update:

I went out to start it after writing this thread and it seems to back to normal... very odd.

I’m getting this, with flashing lights on my Environmental control panel also. The radio keeps restarting itself. I have Auto Stop Start unavailable, Blind spot unavailable, and other spurious things. I completely disconnected both batteries for 2 hours and all the symptoms returned.

Strangely, with both batteries completely disconnected, both Positive and Negative posts off both batteries, I still had 0.5 Volts reading between a Positive battery terminal and a body ground post. How can that be?

Definitely there are some odd electrical issues with these trucks, I had figured I would avoid much of the issues that I have seen posted with the upgraded packages.

My only suggestion would be to use the fob on the start button, that cleared my check engine initially, after a drive and a couple hours the other issues corrected them selves.

Stored energy in all of your devices. Capacitors! That .5v will go away with time.

I think you and the OP may have a battery issue. I would put a charger on it and see what happens .

Just to add that I put a Voltmeter on both batteries while disconnected, and got 12.6 Volts. And I have an Edge CTS3 engine monitor, and it shows 14 Volts while running.

Update: the damn thing seems to have fixed itself!

Shit like this makes me miss my old FJ-40.

Agree. If you want that stored energy to go away. Just step on the brake pedal. And it's gone.
