Yea, a camper or bed rack really screws with that inside bed wall antenna mounting. I attached my HMMVW mount with six PEM nuts into the bed wall and it’s not going anywhere. I was so happy with this flexible antenna mount and then I got a bed rack which screwed placing any antennas on the mount. I did put a Motorola ball mount on the bed rack which is rated for 500w HF use and that location turns out to work very well for HF.
Otherwise my main VHF/UHF antennas are on the hood using trunk lip mounts and that has proven to work great since most of the truck above the hood is fiberglass and has less RF blockage than most vehicles.
Here are a few more pics of the bed mount then the rack solution with ball mount low on a rack leg so the whip will clear stuff that overhangs the rack. The high power Teflon coax and HF tuner control line pass through rubber grommets in the bed wall for protection. Last time I took my truck to the dealer the check in guy looked at the black antenna ball mount on the bed rack then grabbed and pulled on it. Then he said “I gotta get me one of these!” A minute later he asked me what it was.
