The warn power interrupt kit comes with a rocker switch to install in the cab. The rocker switch has a long yellow wire that installs on the solenoid, a black wire for grounding, and a red wire to be spliced to an "hot wire from ignition".
Everything looks straight forward for a novice such as myself except for the red wire being spliced to a hot wire for the rocker switch. The kit does come with a snap lock connecter for the splicing.
What hot wire should I be looking for and what is the correct way splice and use the snap lock connector? I will be installing the rocker switch under the dash area on the drivers side to take advantage of a large plug in the firewall to run the wire.
Taken from install instructions.
2. Route the red, fused wire from the switch location to a suitable switched, "hot" wire from the ignition switch. Route the spade connector through the switch bracket and plate and push onto the #2 Power Interrupt switch terminal. Splice the wire end into the "hot" wire with the snap lock connector provided.
Side note is that every install I have found on the web are using factory or after market aux switches.
