Full glass coverage was an add on and no deductible.

Alright I’m going to put on my tin foil hat here. I have a sport s, so no hood bump like the Mojave or rubicon. At the beginning of the year we got a crack that looked exactly like the OP’s. We thought, “oh well, almost made it a full year on our factory windshield, that’s pretty good!” Especially in Colorado, where windshields seem to go quicker without mud flap or wheel well regulations.
Any way, we had the glass replaced by a reputable safelite shop with OEM Mopar glass. About two weeks later, my wife came out of the store and the windshield had cracked again! Exact same spot, not even an inch of difference, and the crack deviated the same way. Both times it came from the very bottom of the windshield, starting below the black.
I called safelite kind of upset, because we knew we never heard a rock hit the glass, and we were hyper aware after the first time never hearing anything. Safelite replaced it under warranty as I could not find a rock chip.
When I took it to safelite the second time, I expressed my concern that something was wrong with the way the glass was mounted or the pinch weld that was causing the crack. The tech came out and wiped off some dust and pointed at the tiniest itty bitty imperfection in the glass near the crack. I have had grape size rocks hit my work cars windshield that cause big chips, and no crack. The tech said that’s where a rock hit. It was under the wiper blade, and directly behind the wiper blade arm.
I know nothing is impossible, but what are the odds that my entire windshield is free of damage, and two times, weeks apart, a bb size rock hits in the exact same spot and does the exact same thing? 100 million to one? I’m no mathematician, but I am a horrible sports gambler, and even I wouldn’t make that bet.
Now reading this thread I see the exact same crack in the same spot, except ours started on the passenger side. Come on, there has to be a better explanation.

All of the rocks that have ever hit my windshields, for all the vehicles I've ever owned, that I have been able to notice coming, have been bouncing a couple of times on the pavement in front of me. Each bounce would get higher and further distance in it before it bounced again. So I don't think there is much air flow from any vehicle at all affecting things. As said, its the flat upright surface compare to a more leaned back surface
