Hooray for Ouray 2022. Here we go again

From Charlotte I usually go through Great Sand Dunes NP via Medano Pass if staying in Trinidad. Fun little trail, not as spectacular as where your going but a fun little warm up with a lot of water crossings. Usually only adds a few hours to the trip. Also a little bit of distraction for those with a jeep addition in Saguache.

I went by there in 2017 and was trying to remember the town.

I left the comfort of a warm bed and secure home and set out at about 6:30am from North Georgia to fog. 40 minutes later I was entering Tennessee. I had plenty of road food and drinks so my only stops were for gas and pee pee stops. Always fun to cross the Mighty Mississippi River. Just had dinner at the Cracker Barrel next door to the hotel in Alma, Arkansas. Tomorrow we head west on I-40 to Santa Rosa, NM.

I left Arkansas early and was greeted with the sun on my back and the moon in my face. Pretty cool.

Into Texas we go. When you get into Texas and Oklahoma these wind generators are everywhere. Neat fact I found out one night driving through Oklahoma a fer years ago. At night they all habe lights on the top and they all blink together. its weird

to see it

I decided to skip Santa Rosa. My thought was I would rather get into Ouray earlier than later so I drove to Bernalillo NM. gobbled down the best green chile cheese burger I have ever have and went to bed. Tomorrow Colorado

Have a great time! we where supposed to go the same week but we all decided to cancel due to fuel prices. Now I am not sure we made the right choice, miss being there.

Fuel prices were ok all the way to NM. 3.99 a gallon till NM, 4.30 a gallon

Their always seems to be a lot of interest in gas mileage. Completely stock Rubi. I reset this when I left home. I’m happy with it.

We made it to Ouray and met up with the guys I wheel with at the KOA. We are grilling out tonight and making a plan for the trail.
