Dumb question... Can I store a typical 12v compressor (Viair/Morrflate/Smittybilt/etc) on its side, or will that cause an issue with the lubrication system? I am probably going to pull the trigger on a compressor soon, and the best place for it would be in my Goose Gear, but it's not tall enough for a compressor to sit upright.

No plans to do onboard air.

I know you can with an ARB, there are numerous mounts that have them in a vertical position with the assembly on end or on it's side.

I don't know of any portable compressors that would have a problem being on their side.

Your signature is giving me PTSD to English 1010, reading Olsen was a slog.

That's entirely dependent on the compressor you choose. Contact the manufacturer directly, or come back here after you have picked one to purchase.

Many of them are designed so that the storage position doesn't matter. I have a Viair portable that's over ten years old. I try to keep it upright, but it rides in the back and gets moved around. It still works great.

Been doing some online research, and I think I can answer my own question. All the major manufacturers use an oil-free design, so they can all be stored horizontally. However, a hot compressor on its side may have condensation problems, so let it cool first.
