So far I find the majority of the Gladiators I've seen here or on social media in general look "off" due to their stance. The wheels and tires are sticking out well past even the Rubi fender flares. Is this due to the wider axles?

Likely due to the offset on the aftermarket wheels they chose. Possibly even spacers. It's a look that is popular, but not for everybody.

I think it's due the the aftermarket wheels and tires chosen, the backspacing chosen, and as said even possibly spacers.

Now why you do this is to fit a wider tire on the jeep for traction off road, and to allow the tires to turn without rubbing on something, because if you stuff a wide tire so it is even with the flares, it will rub when you turn, and possibly not fully turn. If you look at pictures of jeeps going back years, you will see this commonly.

I agree with you Mr OP. This is the look I prefer. This Jeep has 37 KO3s and a 2 inch Mopar. Same thing I am planning to do with my LE which I am sure will arrive at the beginning of my two weeks away from home.

It seems that the track og the JT is wider than the JL. I noticed a new Sport and the factory wheels were almost flush with the fenders.

those stock wheels? I love the look, that wider stance isn't my bag baby.

Eggggggsactly. Perfect for me. Not a fan of offsets or the "I got the biggest tires on the block" look.

But not hatin. To each his own.

Yes, the owner of the Jeep said they are stock Rubi wheels. Not rub lock to lock. He had posted to Instagram and SKT stole the photos and posted them here. He later posted "hey that's mine."

I'm a skinny tire fan and am going with 35/10.5 on the stock Rubicon rims. May step up to 37/11.5 in the future.

I have to agree, not a fan of the tires sticking out past the fender flares. Plus living on a dirt road, I can just see the rocks and mud being thrown on the side and chipping the paint! I will personal go with a tall narrow tire for my JT (35"/10.5) or something close.
