Planning my first day trip down to the ORV park next weekend and want an idea of what I'm getting into with a new stock Rubicon. I'm not afraid of some technical trails--I did a lot of technicals while following as a recovery for Jeep guys in NM (owned a Ram 2500 at the time)--but I don't want to get down trails I don't have clearance for.

I hope you get the chance to make it there. I have a trip planned for the first week of October. Looking forward to a scouting report from you. I have 2 days planned at Stoney Lonesome then 3 days at Hot Springs, then back to my home in Florida. There are a ton of videos out there, hopefully you can get some ideas from them. Please take video and pics of you trip and you can always DM me. Good luck on your trip, stay safe and only break items that you wanna replace lol. Sorry I could help you out.

No worries; they have their trails marked pretty well, but I wanted opinions from people that have been recently/go on the regular. I've been there on a SxS years ago, but some of the trails we ended up on were not even passable for what we were driving. I'm definitely going to document our trip as much as I can, as well as our trip through NM in June

I went this last November in my JL on 37” tires. You can easily run all the BOH trails, a few have nice optional obstacles. I think a couple of them would be tight in a gladiator from a trees perspective but I saw several there at the time. After that we branched out and ran all 4 rated trails and two 5’s that were really hard. The night before it rained 2” and man it made it difficult. Great time and live that many of the trails are one way really helps trafffic.
You can download the park map and I sent it to staples and had them print and laminate the largest size they could do. Really made a huge difference being able to follow.

we had a great time and plan to go back.

Yeah I watched a video on the ORV with a guy that had issues with tree clearance-- like nearly sliding his broadside into them. Not about any of that just yet.

Hot Springs is one of my favorite parks, I've been the last two years in a row.
As previously mentioned, you should be fine on all 4 BOH trails. We had a 2 Dr JK roll on Rubicon Ridge, but that was driver error.
A lot of the 4 level trails we ran were fine in my Gladiator on 37s and 3.5" lift. I did a couple 3 point turns, but never rubbed the bed on anything..
If you get time - Squid's Jaunt, Ravine, Gorge, Ultimate Adventure, and Bubba's Stump all good rides. Road to Emmaus as well, which is the route we took to get to Fun Run.
Lots of slick rock if it's been raining, it was dry this past trip which just made it dusty.
If you have any questions, let me know.
I have a few of my dash cam videos over on youtube, nothing fancy. I just clip them once I'm back home so I can show some family and friends. I have most of the videos from this past trip up there.

Even though I've been there a few times, keep in touch. Depending on what I have going on at the time, I might trail behind you and make another trip out there with ya.

Yea. I know the feeling. I retired and because my wife was still in and I got tired of sitting home, I got a civilian job. Now we're both retired, but I continued working part-time for my company. But, I pretty much do what I want though. But yes. Keep me posted. Stay safe!

Will do! I'll try to document what trails we hit and my opinion with it being stock. I do plan on taking it easy this time around, just get a feel for what it's capable of without getting crazy. If you head down give me a shout! I'll prob be jonesing for another run after this weekend.
