I just had mine open for a oil change after 40k miles on spicer 5.13s including close to 10k miles of towing and they still look new. Royal purple 75w140 was also still purple and probably had atleast another 20-40k miles of life.

That is good to hear. Hopefully the switch to Spicer keeps mine going without issues.

Pulled the front differential cover to check wear pattern and to change fluid after seeing my rear ring and pinon.

Doing the same as the rear, just showing, not as deep as the back but it only gets used a couple times a year and on bad winter days.

Guaranteed I will never use another Yukon product again. I know a lot have had good luck with them, but I will not take the chance again.

A little late to this "party" and no personal experience.... But more than a few have had issues / failures with certain companies gear sets one or more here. Along with them swearing to only use Dana / Spicer afterwards.

I re-geared D-30 and D-44 axles to 4:56 years ago and have many more miles and years on them and don't look like that. They are in a XJ that has been ran hard and put up wet many times. The rear gear sets was slightly "noisy" from the start, but good (okay) pattern.

Backlash looks to be the issue here but hard to say with the even wear pattern. I’ve used Yukon in all but one of my Jeeps and oddly have issues with the Spicer set in my TJ.

I'm not surprised, the older generation axles, and looking at how much of a variation from one other another on shims needed and left vs right side. I "worn out a deadblow hammer" putting in the carrier and adjusting shims on my XJ's D-44 axle. Trying to get it exactly right, the driver side was good but dang coast wasn't centered (4:56 gears) . A older guy I knew who had a speed shop and off-roader (in his late 70's) actually explained that it was "just that way sometimes" due to old castings of housings, gear sets differentals. The D-30 - 60's being already in production for 60 years. Then almost years ago. 😳 Damn time flies.

Your the exception, typically the other way around.
