I have a 6000 lbs boat, on trailer, and am looking to get into one of these. My concern is how well will it tow this boat? I do not normally go far, 3 miles to the local boat landing, but if I start doing 300 mile 1 way trips, how will the Gladiator handle that? how would the ride quality be as well? I would be looking at doing the gas with auto(sadly) obviously with the heavy tow pack.

Boat pictured below with my old 1 ton, currently using an 08 chevy1500, with no issues.

This is the marketplace, i think you want t he general towing section instead. That said, 6K is a lot for a midsize, it will really depend on the trailer and what you'll be towing over and the conditions (flat, mountaints, wind).

Should tow fine. My travel trailer loaded is 5800 and not nearly as aerodynamic as your boat. And I’ve towed it 900miles one way just fine.

What are you looking at payload wise? Planning on rolling with a full crew (maybe a big dude or two), coolers, etc.?

Yeah, on paper it’ll tow a 6,000lb boat, but I’d be looking for a truck with a higher towing capacity if you’re planning on loading up the cab and bed too.

Totally depends on the trailer. I've towed 5 trailers in the 5000lb plus range, the lightest (wilderness x-lite travel trailer) was the worst to tow because it was shorter and had a higher center of gravity than the others. Enclosed car trailer was the toughest on the jeep because of the frontal area, it was pulling a lot through the wind, only 8-9mpg pulling that 450 miles and not loaded too heavily (under 6k lbs). Doesn't really matter what's in it, even empty it works hard because of the aero. It's low to the ground and I usually do a good job of leveling the load so it is very stable. The heaviest I pulled was a unimog on an open car trailer, it was right at 6800lbs, but it was easy to tow due to the axle location on the trailer and much less area in the wind, got 12-13mpg towing it.

Yeah, no ... These vehicles are engineered from the start to be great off road and the fact that they can also pull stuff is a distant requirement ...

Yep, they do it ... Mine DOES it ... But I really prefer to stay in the 3500lb range ... More than that and (sure it doesn't blow up into a pile of metal dust) but she is workin ... And it is obvious that I am doing more than she is happy about ...

On paper yep ... In practice IMHO, NO ... Others will chime in with tales of full loads pulling up mountain roads full of unicorns ridden by topless maidens who fart gold dust. But if ya wanna pull 6000+ pounds regularly on any sort of grade for any distance get a full size truck designed for the task ...

It will suck off road however ...

WHERE IS THIS PLACE!!?

i do however tow heavy and it does fine. Steep grades it will slow down a bit. You’re not going to do 65mph on steep climbs. But a JTmt will do a heavy tow along the east coast just fine.

I agree w Zappa in a lot of ways.

6k is a chunk, boat might be better than a TT for towing due to frontal area, hard to say.

My TT is 6k, but it's a lot smaller than most tow, 20' loa, 7' wide V nose.

I also added a supercharger to the rig. With out that power, I don't think I would keep my rig.

Towing wise, sumosprings, a WDH (can't do that on a boat) and a few trips to the scale to set things up. The truck is more than stable, level breaks well etc.
