I didn't read the links, it's just more FUD being spread. Has anyone been able to confirm that Stellantis provides VIN encoded data?

The insurance rates here are affected by poor drivers, scams, and state laws. I've been using AAA Insurance for a long time, with no issues. The first big increase was last year, and it affected everyone statewide.
Only company so far that's been proven to provide data to insurance is GM and they say they have stopped after the backlash.
Otherwise, there's no evidence that any other company did the same thing or does the same thing.
Frankly, I'm good with some paying more than me. I worked my butt off staying safe, out of accidents and ticket-free. I should pay lower rates than more than half of the rest of drivers out there.
Just seems fair to me.
Nothing to hide, no worries. Besides, our company doesn't operate using auto-maker data. So it's not a problem here.

Maybe read the provided material before offering an opinion.

GM was busted for this and Stellentis has nearly identical permissions in their privacy statements - which you would know if you clicked the link.
EFF has already done the research, just because it hasn't hit the media outside of some dedicated automotive news sites doesn't mean it isn't a thing.

I don't need to read the links, @ShadowsPapa gave a nice summary. Just because they have it in the terms doesn't mean they are actually collecting it. Stellantis is paying for the data connection to each head unit, one of the reasons they are factory only and dealers aren't allowed to add them. They are only going to be collecting data that is useful to them. I've been having my Telematics data uploaded since March of 2015, with no apparent ill effects. Nissan has been using the same SiriusXM system as Jeep for communication and data collection. My Leaf still tries to upload, but can no longer communicate since AT&T shut down the 3G system.

Except he's not correct, you just saw a post you agreed with so you don't have to challenge your preconceptions.

Here it is, straight from Stellantis to their stockholders. https://www.stellantis.com/en/news/...tis-growing-data-and-connected-services-offer

And here is how they are marketing that data, note the inclusion of "near-real-time" in the materials as well as driver profiling.

https://www.mobilisights.com/en/data-products.html

Stellantis projects data brokering from their combined brands is worth over €20 billion per year, and I'm supposed to believe that they aren't going to monetize the shit out of that to anyone with a buck in their pocket? You think they are maintaining all those data connections out of the goodness of their heart?

I don't have any preconceptions to be challenged. I know they collect data, I know they monetize it where they can, and I know that the collection of my data has had no apparent ill effects.

You keep posting the same links to try and get everyone to think the same as you. I believe that you are trying to make this into a bigger issue than it really is.

This page has SiriusXM's Privacy Policy, information on the data they collect, state-specific information, and instructions on how to opt out of selling of personal data. Notice you can only opt-out of sale, and not collection.

Anybody figure out what module or antenna to rip out /disconnect from their Gladiator to prevent collection of this data in the first place? I found there was a box with an antenna that had some IMEI data printed on it in the dashboard around the lighting switches/toggles around the driver's knee while working on a project to install an OEM 120v outlet in the bed. I considered disconnecting it, but was worried about throwing codes and at the time was in a rush to put the truck back together. I'd happily give up the ability to use SiriusXM and make emergency calls if it would prevent yet another company being able to collect an uncomfortable amount of data on me.
I downloaded the XM/Sirius App to my phone after my 300 was totalled, and just play it from Android Auto in any vehicle I'm in or from a desktop in the house. I just let the Free trials run out and expire now, so there's no need for the car to connect to anything now.

SiriusXM Music is a separate animal. It does not 'connect' to anything. It is receive only over the satellite connection. Using the SiriusXM Music app through Android Auto requires an active internet connection on the Android device running the app.

To my point the phone connects, the car doesn't need to connect to anything. I don't even use the vehicles navigation system anymore. But, the WAZE app is probably collecting and selling data too.

If the App on the phone is free, they are making money somewhere else. Either data mining, advertisements, or a combination. I get monthly and yearly recaps of my travels from Google, and constant requests for reviews of places I have visited, or even just parked near.

The modern Smart Phone is a mobile data collection device. Google and the cellular carrier collect a lot of data, along with many of the Apps on the phone. Many phones now have unlimited cellular data connections and can provide real-time access for the data collected. It is much more intrusive than any of the cellular connected head units available in modern vehicles.

I understand. I call every year for discounted subscriptions for the two vehicles, which gives me App access. I use the App on my tablet in the house for music. It runs pretty much all the time. I have a 100MB DSL connection with no data cap. We use DirecTV Stream for TV viewing, along with other streaming services and the SiriusXM app, and the Ring Cameras. The monitoring software shows we move about 1GB per hour just over the wireless connections, and most of the DirecTV Stream is all wired.
