I want to pick up some wheels and tires for black friday, but I need some help knowing what wheels and tires to get.

What I do know, is I have a sport S max tow. I want to get 33" tires and 17" wheels. No intention to lift at the moment. I also don't want the tires to stick out much.
What width wheel would I get? What offset? Bsckspace? What size tire?

I’d go with 35s minimum that’s just me. Should do fine without a lift too, mine did.
I drive on the highway daily and often tow a boat, so I figured 35s wouldn’t be practical.

You know the wheel diameter you want (17inch), so now it comes down to a couple of things. Wheel width and wheel offset/backspacing... Plus tires.

Since you have Max tow with slightly wider axles and no intention to lift it right now. Personally I think it might look a bit goofy if you end up getting a wheel with a large offset. So here's want I'd recommend for your setup. Take it with a grain of salt if you wish.

Tires do 33x11.5R17 or 285/70R17 (metric equivalent). (not 12.5inch wide)
Wheels - Personally I'd look for something in the range of +20 to +12mm. The stock wheels you have should be +44mm.

So lets say you take something like this KMC wheel. https://www.customwheeloffset.com/buy-wheel-offset/KM71778563618/kmc-km717-17x85-18 The wheel should only be 1 inch wider than your current wheels.

I think it will look good and proper. You'll find a lot of 0mm wheels those would work, but you'd be 1.7inches wider on either side. Definitely stay away from negative offsets. 0mm max!

That KMC wheel is a good wheel, Method wheels are good too.

Same here for the most part other than I don’t really tow a boat but I’m a city driver and have 35s that work great. To each their own.

What would be your opinion on something like this? https://alphaequipt.com/collections/wheels-proto/products/command-proto?variant=39298304704611
Do you think the 0mm offset would be problem? These would also bbe 285/70R17 for tires?
Will I have to buy new TPMS or will the ones in the stock tires transfer over?

Thanks for the help!

You can move the TPMS over to the new wheels or get new ones.

Those wheels are in the right wheel width range. 33x11.5s allow for 7.5-9inch usually.

0mm won't be a problem. The wheels may extend beyond the fender flares a bit (not by much though)

Below is a picture of my wifes JL Rubicon with 0mm offset and 35x12.5R17s with a 2inch lift. If you had 11.5inch wide, it would stick out 0.5inches less.

Now again, this is totally my personal preference. I personally think a more tucked in look is more ecstatically pleasing on something that isn't lifted. We're literally only talking about 3/4inch more on either side at 0mm vs 20mm.

Here is an example of the AEV Savegre II which are +25mm, they'd look clean with no lift.

Again, take anything I say with a grain of salt, its all up to you and what you want :)

When I had a Sport S Max Tow, here's what I found:

- 35s will not fit stock. They'll rub the lower air dam really bad.

- 2" front lift will clear the 35s but still requires minor trimming of the lower air dam.

- 17x8.5" wheels with +10 offset causes the tires to stick out. If you want to keep the tires even with the fenders you need +25 offset or greater which is hard to find in aftermarket wheels, but there are a few out there.

Are there any serious disadvantages to having some of the tire sticking out other than aesthetics?

More wear and tear on steering components and wheel bearings, also messes up scrub radius and increased bump steer.
