I want and will get the Method Trail series and lowest they come with is 8.5 wide.

Really intrigued all the stock (7.5) wheels running these 11.5. and they look great Is an 8.5 too wide for 11.5??

I am a bit bothered Jeep isn't putting 8 wides as stock ( 04-06 ).

Thank all.

Wrench Safe!

Edi:t and feel free to yell if I am splitting hairs here.

If you look at the tire you are interested in on the manufacturers website, they will give you the recommended specs for wheel width. But, having said that, you can also ignore that on the borders.

I have 12.5" tires (35") on 7.5" rims, so you're going the opposite direction as me. You'll get less bulge aired up, but actually MORE bulge aired down. There's a good YouTube on narrow vs wide tires:

3 Scientific Experiments to Settle This | Wide vs Narrow Off-Road Tires

After watching it I kind of wish I had gone with pizza cutters, but I also do love the look of my truck. So... whatever.

TLDR your setup will work.

Yes, that vid did help push me to 11.5 wide. Thanks for advice.

I have always checked out Tire Racks spec column on tires I shop, great reminder above to check with Rim range. 7.5 to 10 for the 11:5. Falken WP AT4.

Tire rack does give a good education too when you change wheel sizes different from their test size specs. Good stuff.

I've run narrow and wide tires, although the data shows more footprint with a narrow tire, I think that brings the rim too close to the ground and drops the ground clearance.

If I was doing long distance off road touring, I'd go narrow for sure. But since I wheel in Moab, the wide tire gives me better cornering on the road and grips the slick rock better than a narrow tire. This is just my opinion having run both narrow and wide in the same model on the same vehicle in the same conditions on the same roads and trails. It's also specific to where I off road, which is not the typical trail/soil conditions for most places.
