I sent the sales guy at the dealership an email, mentioning what the well-connected smart folks over here said - and this was his response this AM -

Bill,

The von# is xxxxxxx, as of this morning the unit moved to D1 status (plant has sequenced unit for
production with estimated ship date assigned, approx 11/04?) I'll let you know when status changes on my end.
Let me know how the forum info works out

Scott

I know this is all tentative - or I assume it isn't set in stone? (you guys and gals know better than me how this works) - and ship dates mean that if they have a full load that's when it would leave the plant - correct?
But really? That soon? It was just ordered on 10/17
Am I experiencing a Rod Serling moment and this really isn't October and next week isn't really November?
So far it seems that the ship date corresponds to the build date. Someone had posted that it is being "shipped" from one department to another in the internal system. That is what most people that have posted have experienced. The actual time it leaves on a train or truck will be some time after that depending on what steps it needs to go through like adding options in JB status. But so far with some exceptions most people seem to be seeing deliveries in the 4 to 6 week range. It looks like I am on track for about 5 1/2 weeks.

I've noticed posts in places about shipping to body vendor... huh? I thought Jeep, a unit of FCA, was the body vendor?!?
Or is it like Chevrolet - "Body by Fisher" ?
Do they really buy that many outside parts? Do they not make anything themselves? Isn't it inefficient as heck to have to ship or move major parts to different property or buildings?
It used to be all the parts came together in one building as a car came down the line. Maybe some parts came from other places - like glass, transmissions, etc. - but would they not be held in the same plant the assembly is taking place?

The body vendor installs things like the spray in bedliner and tonneau covers. The sort of things that are not efficient to include in the main assembly process. I believe the vendor utilizes space at the main assembly complex so they are not really shipping them anywhere. Mine went to the body vendor on a Friday and was out by Tuesday.

Oh, well, that makes perfect sense! Why reinvent the wheel. That helps explain.

My estimated date was just a few days off.... :) you may have yours sooner than you expect-
I live fairly close to Toledo so mine was tricked to me- and not sitting in a rail yard waiting for a full car to be loaded

Got mine today after ordering 9/18. 5.5 weeks isn’t bad. Despite my sticker having the added costs for paint, radio, led, and hitch, my price remained the same even in their system, presumable since it was a sold order prior to the prices jumping up. Smooth transaction at Bosak Jeep in Merrillville, IN.

That's not fair!

That's mostly what mine should look like but my wife wanted the body color top, too (Overland)

Man, that thing looks great!

I had really hoped I'd have mine before the snow...alas, I am wrong --- we had our first snow last night here...Mine has been stuck in Toledo since 10/07, wasting away, waiting for the train to Kansas City & trucked to Maryville...

Snowed pretty heave here for a while last night. (SE of Des Moines) Snow on the ground, mid 20s, then the temps got up into the mid 30s and it's disappearing. LOL, I almost imagined myself with a blade on the front clearing the driveway, but then with our vehicles all being Jeep or other 4x4s, I rarely bother clearing snow these years - unless it's really deep and/or we're having company. My wife's friends have enough trouble with our driveway being not perfectly straight, and a fair up hill as you leave. We tell 'em turn around by the house and drive out but no, they try to back out.. and run into the yard or worse.
I guess time to do a final mowing, drop the deck off and hook up the blade to the lawn tractor for winter.
Mine ain't even built yet and it's driving me nuts - will be worse when I find it's built and just sitting somewhere! Hey, can I just drive over and pick it up myself?

Yep....we got a skiff last night, as you can read in the above post from @ShadowsPapa. Mine is still in inspection....30 days later now.

Does this mean there be TWO blue Gladiators around the Des Moines area one of these days??

The only other Gladiator I have seen at all in the area was a brief glimpse of a white one on east University by the fair grounds about 3 weeks ago.

Well imagine that, I get a call last night an hour before the dealer closes and says hey it’s here, we’ll do a state inspection prep it and we should have it ready Thursday. Wrong answer. I bought a JLUR that wasn’t ready off a dealer lot, It took an hour for them to do the whole process. I’m heading up as soon as they open in 15 minutes to get a glimpse of Tiro. Pics as soon as I get some.

pretty crazy that PA requires a brand new vehicle to be inspected.
