That's so wild to me. I had an Xterra addiction for awhile and every VQ40 i had would eat itself alive well before i could ever start doing anything with it. Constantly fighting timing chain issues and piston rings.
2009+ are really tough. Those are the years past the SMOD and timing chain issues. Never heard about any piston ring issues. VQs are really tough and that’s just a stroked and tuned for torque 3.5l. Those take a beating too. Look at all of the abused 350Zs and G35s out there.

14k miles on my '24 Gladiator Rubicon ... still running like new ... everyone has to realize these 3.6 engines are great. What more could I ask for? 14k and not a problem. At this rate, I could see it reaching 25k - 30k.

Who says the 3.6 engines are not great?
