I spoke with Banks Tech Support. They are aware of the issue with the Firmware/PIDS and have noted it for the engineers. He suggested I try the Beta firmware, accessible by holding down the module info button under setting on the phone app. He said it's version 1.06.7 or something.
I will stay on version 1.04 for now as it seems to be doing mostly what I want.
