If you just bought a diesel Gladiator and lived in Canada would you
A. Buy the longest warrant because this is a new gen motor with no plans to ever delete
B. Shortest warranty and delete as soon as possible and screw warranty

Please let me know your thoughts.

If you buy the extended warranty, you pay a fixed amount up front to know that they will keep it running for the length of time you paid for.

The other path is a big gamble with an unknown outcome. It may run for years with no problems, and it may be a money pit that is always requiring repairs.

Trick question, because there is no question.

It’s a Jeep: screw the warranty. Mod the heck out of it, and roll coal while doin’ it!

Just kidding: I hate the belching diesels, but a delete and chip would be fun! If the motor turns out to be a dud, someone will still buy it. Or swap it for a Hemi.

Totally depends.

If I was leasing and knew I'd turn it back in after 3-4 years, option A.

If I was planning to keep the truck as long as possible, option B.

Deleting and tuning the EcoDiesel makes it a TOTALLY different animal.

Have you heard of this being done on this gen diesel?

Well, I've had other Jeeps with VM diesels and the GDE tune made them totally different vehicles. It was amazing. And when I drive a JT diesel vs Ram diesel of the same generation it's obvious what a huge difference there is. Gotta be the tuning. I've seen videos of the tuning for this generation EcoDiesel that the Canadian companies are working on and it's gonna be sweet. They're even incorporating shift on the fly tuning changes. 2021 is gonna be a great year for the EcoDiesel.

I’ve ordered the JTR Diesel, and hoping it arrives in the next week or two. I plan on buying the longest warranty I can. New motor, new problems... I want as much protection as I can get.

My Canada diesel JTHA is on order and I will buy the longest best warranty offered. Why? Because of re-sale value, even on trades. It will add significant $$ to the value, and generally move quickly. Meanwhile I’m well covered.
BTW, I plan on keeping it, hopefully the last vehicle I ever purchase.

Old thread bump.

I have the standard warranty and if I keep the truck then yes, delete and tune. Here in BC we have no emissions testing and CvSE enforcement or the police dont bother with deletes. Were too short staffed for that.
