Where do you see that? 2.5" should be plenty for a 35". There's people running 35s with no lift.
Just random googling and reading. No specific place.

I have 305/75/17 which is about 35 and a 2.5" lift...no probs whatsoever.

Edit: Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Doesnt come with shocks, did the ride get a little rougher for you?
nope, rides like stock. It doesn’t come with shocks because it has shock extensions that allow you to keep your stock on without any issues.

I agree with others, research first. Nail down what you want your end game needs to be. Die hard rock crawler or muddling, etc. take some time and read, read, read.

In my case, it’s mostly a daily driver doing light duty truck work. I wanted it to be set up for short mid-level off road trails. No Baja running, mud pits or boulder crawling. I opted for an AEV 2” spacer kit so I can put 37s on on my JTRLE. That will give me the bit more clearance I want without rubbing. This keeps my center of gravity lower.

I put the spacer kit on without the bigger tires because I had some time with my brother. We have fun wrenching on Jeeps together. So I’m looking a little goofy myself until the next paycheck. A few unexpected expenses popped up. That’s ok, it helps me pace myself. I’m not pitching my solution, but the link below has a visual comparison for reference. Those LE tires are classified as 33”, they measure less than 32”

A post with 2” AEV Spacer kit with stock LE tires and wheels

Take some time to read and determine what you want exactly, then spend your money. Big lift, little lift, spacers... don’t let the buffet overwhelm you.

Good luck with your choice!

What size tires are you going to end up getting? Is there a chart somewhere that explains what size tires you should get for how much life you add?

So new to this.

I'm reading i cant get by with 35" tires with just a 2.5" lift. Just dont know if that is all in my budget.
You can most definitely run 35's on a stock JT. Here mine running them before I put the 2.5" lift kit on. 315 70 17 BFG KO2 tires on stock wheels

Before lift with 35's

After 2.5" lift with 35's

After 2.5" Lift, with 35's and 1.75" Wheel Spacer

2.5" SST Ready lift kit

Rides as good if not better than it did stock. Still getting around 19 MPGs average. Haven't felt the need to change anything else out yet because of how well it rides.

That looks really good with and without the lift. Maybe I will start with tires and if I dont like it, add the lift. Hmm..... man this is fun and hard.

For reference also if your looking at price, I was at $1145 mounted and balanced for the tires for 4 and $801 installed at my local shop including alignment for the Lift kit, so just under $2000 for lift and tires letting someone else do the work. I thought about doing the lift myslef but for $350 it was worth it to me to let someone else do it. My times worth more than that.

Oh yea I have zero skill set to do this kind of thing myself. Thanks for the price info. It will help me decide.

Getting 315 70 17 put on right at this moment. I paid about $100 more than you. So not bad at all.

Here's a before & after of my Gladiator Overland with 2.5 inch Rough Country Leveling kit with N3 Premium shocks and stock wheels/tires. Installed and got tires aligned about 2 weeks ago and it rides great. I currently have about 550 miles with these, and will replace tires with better looking ones once they wear out (unless someone from the OKC area wants to buy them ;)). I hope this helps you out a little.

You’re right about the hard part. I knew what tires I wanted, but searching for a mostly-complete lift kit in my budget took me about three weeks to nail down. I wasn’t going to do wheels straight away, but I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on some to get the spending over with haha That set me back another two weeks of searching for what I wanted.

The only reason I did mine so quickly was because after the JKU, 7rs about 5 different setups, I pretty much knew what I wanted to do with the JT. Buy once Cry once
