thank you for this detailled answer. checked again the TSB and seems its possible that EHPS could already updated at the last service.The SOFTWARE has to be updated after the steering gear is replaced. You can swap the steering gear, but it won't be right or complete unless the software is updated because this is EHPS - electro-hydraulic power steering. It's controlled by the PCM. Likely pressures and other fun stuff will be different.
They won't need to do anything other than take your word for it. The TSB says if the customer complains about A, B or C, DO THIS.
As far as what they are saying about working on an import, etc. - there may be "rules" because for it to be done under WARRANTY, they have to do exactly what FCA says or they don't get reimbursed.
Apparently US id way different about that.
I got italy about this TSB who called the dealer ( btw its a good guy) who agree to start the process and then... FCA Belgium ( the country importeur) called him back and said its a US spec vehicule not sold by our network no recall or warranty can be applied ( and they arent even aware about any TSB.. only update radio ;-) ;-)
anyway tired to discuss with such assholes dont want to wait 12 weeks and no way i pay them around 1700 + VAT for something who cost third of the price. ( btw got it from a friend dealer in Dubai for ... 600$ right in my mailbox
now im waiting my new draglink and new tie rod to rebuild an high end steering
