iPhone 12 (Car Play) issues with Uconnect?

'21 Gladiator Rubicon Diesel
I have a 2021 Gladiator and love the truck with one exception. I'm having issues running Apple Car Play. Every time I start the APP it will run until I send the first text message and then it locks up and freezes the screen for about 10 seconds and then ultimately drops the connection with the phone all together. Does anyone else have this issue? Any advice on how to address? I have checked for updates for phone and Uconnect and both are up to date.

No issues with my 2021 Gladiator. I don’t have a solution for you.

the iphone 12 has known bluetooth issues... probably have to wait for an IOS update

I'm having the same issue in my 2020.

There's a thread in the Uconnect section about issues with using CarPlay on newer iPhones via the center console USB port. Haven't tested mine in awhile, but was getting random disconnects from CarPlay while it was connected via USB cable. Front USB port works without issue.

LOL. That was my late night reply.

I’m using the USB port in
the dash if that makes a difference. Seems that some have issues if using the console port.

Just had a firmware update on my 8.4 Uconnect when I got back from lunch, maybe that will help!

Are you using an Apple brand USB cable? Non-Apple cables can be problematic with Carplay.

I was having this issue but not as consistently. It wasn't always after a message, it wasn't every drive, and it wasn't always music or calls.

A few days ago my phone did upgrade to iOS 14.4.1 and now that this post reminded me about it I don't think it has happened sense.

I have been, and issue still persists with the center console. I've updated my phone software since, so I'm going to try it out next time around to see if it's resolved itself.
