I agree with the inflation comments, but Jeep has to compete with vehicles in their class, and it's even more competitive when people are very careful about every dollar spent, interest rates, and what they're getting for the money.
A well equipped Nissan or Ford, while not a solid axle flexy off-road monster, brings a lot to the table for the average truck and SUV consumer when compared to a minimally equipped Jeep.
But also, when Jeep and RAM do start discounting brand new vehicles 20% and more, it cripples the used market and infuriates owners who now have a 1-2 year old vehicle with more principle left on their loan that they could spend on a brand new one.
No one expects a modern vehicle's value to appreciate, but they also shouldn't be falling off a cliff before you can finish paying for it.
Jeep needs two levels of trim -
1. I'll build it up myself, so thanks for a reasonably priced starter kit.
2. I'm not interested in in all of that aftermarket work and parts, so you build it out for me and I'll pay the premium.
