I didn't know you had the Falkens at some point.I thought the stock Rubicon Falken A/T tires were reasonably quiet for an A/T tire compared to my H/T tires. I expected a lot more noise - they were louder, but not as bad as I expected.
And no, on the mud flaps, splash guards, whatever. The sound isn't that directional and it's trapped in the wheel well and comes up through the thinly insulated body.
High frequency sounds are more directional and easier to block, midrange and lower sounds not so much, but the mud flaps aren't where the sound itself would be emanating from anyway.
It's the tire on the highway. And that sound goes all directions. Live on a road where many of the people that go by have trucks and A/T and M/T tires - aggressive ones by the sounds. No piece of rubber or plastic will stop that.
Insulate your floors and sill areas like others have suggested.
How do they compare to the Grabbers you have now??
