Is my tailgate hinge broken?

I noticed the hinge on the driver's side of the tailgate has 2 cracks in it. Is it broken or is it supposed to look like this?

I'm asking the question because there are 2 cracks and they look almost symmetrical. I wasn't able to get a picture of both cracks but there is one in the front and one in the back,

Just looked, mine is smooth all the way around.

I've only had the Jeep for 3 months and the heaviest thing I've had back there were bags of groceries.

Strange. Must have been a manufacturer defect. Hope it goes well at the dealer.

Went to my dealer's service department and they confirmed it is broken. Now starts the warranty process, I'm told I can expect a call Thursday.

Did they say they will paint the replacement to match? It being a unseen part with the tailgate closed, I can see them just installing a base black coated part and calling it good.

Really good question.
They said the plan it go get the new hinge, paint it to match. They expect it to be a quick job and they can do it while I wait.

Just an update for anyone that may be following this.

Well, it got off to a rocky start at the dealer (lots of miscommunication) but after a call I received yesterday, you can color me impressed.

To begin with, they said the parts are on order and will call me wen they come in. They said they want to make sure it matches my paint 100% so they aren't just going to paint it and slap it on. They said that when it comes in, they want me to drop my truck off for a few days. This way they can make sure everything matches and they are going to give me a car to drive while it is in the shop. This is a lot more than I expected for just a tailgate hinge.
