I remember people on here saying some screws underneath rusted on their mojave. To my surprise i found a lot of rust and i have only had the Mojave drive in the rain a handful of times . What do you guys think? Is this normal? Is it ok? I dont know what to think.

I hate to break the news to you, but there is moisture in the atmosphere.
Im not stupid but thanks for the cool story. I guess the weld rusting is a good sign after a week. So your gladiator looks the same underneath?

Mine does, all those parts that are just exposed iron/steel will rust in a few days in anywhere but a desert. Its all just surface rust, if you live in the rust belt where they salt the roads you may want to look at getting it coated, if not then you'll probably have to replace it from wearing out well before the rust does any real damage.

Looks pretty normal. Jeeps always look rusty for some reason like that. JK's were terrible after a year.

Thanks i appreciate the help. The only thing that kind of freaked me out was on a few spots it actually on coated parts and welds. The bare metal i do understand, i was kind of hoping it would of looked better underneath because some people where freaking out over two screw heads.

Thanks like i said i was just kind of wondering because some people were freaking out over a few screws on their mojave skid plates and were taking them out to treat them lol. So i figured they must not look like mine.

hahahaha in other news, air has oxygen and stuff in it. Its also got electrolytes. (bad movie reverence, sorry)

Ive seen similar rust under mine after the last two years of use. Most places I just hit it with spray on rust converter, then spray over that with black automotive spray paint. I did this for years with my JKU and the shop always commented how nice it was to work on since it was never overly rust covered. I also just did this to my wife's new to her JLU and it looks like new now.

It's typical of many trucks and cars - save for the very high end ones like Lexus and such. These are also built to use as trucks and to beat on now and then.
I treat mild surface rust with Extend and paint over it. No more rust.
Bolts, nuts, washers, small parts - I remove where or when I can and prep and plate them.

Now that sounds like a fun weekend project. how do you go about that? is it something a weekend garage monkey could do on his own?

I seen two posts about rust on the gladiator and that was what made me decide to crawl under and look after the rain. I remember your post about black zinc coating and in that someone said jeeps coatings are not all the best etc. Hence me freaking out.

I'm set up for plating. People restoring cars send me parts to zinc plate - bright zinc. (black, clear/blue or yellow zinc)
half a pallet of pure zinc bars, a few hundred dollars worth of chemicals in 5 gallon buckets that have to arrive freight/truck, just had to re-order the ammonium chloride, zinc chloride, potassium chloride at about $300 bucks to refresh the plating bath due to contamination.

The blue rectifier (programmable) was about 700.

BUT, I'm sure there are home-brew ways, too.
