I have not had this happen with either of my trailers - one is 7 pin the other flat 4 pin. Blind spot monitors pick up cars as they normally do with both trailers.

Might try that but I would think it may be detecting the brake system rather than lighting. Otherwise these changes would occur using the flat plug.
I have surge brakes on my trailer, so I don't think this is how it's detecting you towing something.

Nice, adding lights to the bike rack, I had a similar idea for mine, which has a dummy red plug in the center beam, I plan to replace with a led tail/rake light.

When I tow my camper, every once in a while I'll have one or the other light up. Not even turning, just driving straight down the highway. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen
