Issue with Proximity Keyless Entry

(Can’t find any previous thread about this)

My Proximity Keyless Entry system was working well until today. The passenger side handle is still ok, but I can only lock with the handle button on the driver' side. I can’t unlock with my hand behind the handle...

I will do some test this weekend, cleaning, reseating wire harness, verify or reset settings, etc. but if you have any ideas, you’re really welcome!!!

Found something on JL Wrangler forum but it doesn’t fixed my issue that is now intermittent... getting the key fob nearer to the door and farther from electronic device doesn’t resolve the problem instantly. And I didn’t use the Uconnect app this week... I will continue my investigation...

FOB battery?

I was thinking about it but I was away from home the last 2 days. I was not able to test the second key fob or replace the battery.

Yesterday, in the evening, on the road back to home, everything was working perfectly and I didn’t change anything, even the weather was the same! So for now, I’m not able to find the culprit. But I’m ready for the next recurrence!

I never found the answer. I faced the problem again last week after months of trouble free service. Only the time of one start. Then everything is right again.

Check for bent pins in the door connector.

If you take your doors on and off then there are pins in the wiring harness that can bend and even break causing loss of function

Benny from AllMoparParts posted there was a batch of caps with a problem with the magnet in them, try swapping them side to side and see if the problem moves with them.

Thanks Greg. That is my problem. Now to see if I can get the vendor I bought from to replace it.
