8”. 10” would fit if you can find 2.5” mounting depth. It’s a small enclosure for a 10” but could be doable with a custom mounting ring to raise it up. I used weatherstripping to raise this one about 3/8”.
So my 8” sub with 6.6” mounting depth ain’t fitting back there lol. One of these days I’ll get around to building a box, not today. Good job on keeping everything nice and tucked away.

Is the factory sub bad? I only ask because I am looking at a 25 with the alpine stuff in it. My previous gladiator didnt have that, but I took out the box and 10 I built that goes under the seat. I also still have the amp. Would i be happy as is or would I still need or want to use those things if I end up getting the 25 i am looking at?

Well in response to myself. I had a custom built box with a 10 ported and an external amp. Had some dash speakers replaced as well.

Honestly I think the alpine stuff sounds fairly decent. I was thinking about putting my sub and stuff in, but at this point im not really seeing a need to.

The factory sub isn't terrible but it's closer to a quality pair of 6.5" mid bass drivers. It's not mirror shaking legit sub bass by any means. I'm considering changing out the dash 3.5" speakers to get a better front sound stage but otherwise I'm happy with the Alpine system. Considering the amp is only 22W rms per channel is decent.

It's a 12 channel amp, 22 watts per channel. The sub is a wierd 4 voice coil contraption running off 4 channels so 88 watts. It's also only 22 watts at 2 ohms which is why people are underwhelmed when the put aftermarket 4 ohm speakers which are now only getting 11 watts rms.

So is it possible I could add the box and extra sub under the seat and leave the rest of the alpine stuff hooked up? If so, how would I go about tapping in for the sub amp? I used some kind of small box to take the soundbar line level inputs inside the door Pilar and send to the amp. I’m sure it would be different with the alpine stuff.

You should be able to do the same even with the Alpine system. Tap the sound bar wires for line level input to the amp and leave the factory sub doing is thing. You could tap one of the sub channels, but I have no idea where you'd access those wires.

@93civej1 yes, it’s very much possible. I have these 8s running on 1400rms and still have the factory Alpine hooked up.

Oh I was thinking someone was saying it wasn’t the same for the alpine stuff.

Passenger side pillar between the doors
I was thinking someone said you could not pull signal from there, or if you did, the sound quality would be terrible and not act right.

That is 100% correct, it will sound terrible. That is of course if you’re using a Walmart LOC or something similar. If you use a good LOC like the Audiocontrol LC2i or something similar you’ll be fine. I promise you mine sounds pleasant lol

Does the audio control LC2i boost the low frequencies back that are tuned out by the factory amp? I figured you'd need an actual DSP to start with a neutered signal and get good lows?
