Jack stands not tall enough!

If you are also doing the rears, the rear springs have an amazing amount of free length, i'd recommend a coil spring compressor which although dangerous in and of itself, if used carefully will let you do this with out jacking the truck up to some ungodly height to get the new springs in.

This is good to know, however, the kit has you retain the factory springs in the rear. Just the fronts get replaced. I will be replacing the rear shocks though as the kit included 4 new shocks.

Please be extra safe when getting underneath a raised vehicle! Sometimes pine 2X-whatever can split when a force is applied and cause a domino effect with the jack stands. Maybe use a few pieces of plywood stacked screwed and or glued together larger than the base of the jack stands.

or longer jack stands if yours are too short.
I ended up picking up a pair of taller 6-ton jack stands. Just seemed safer than layering up wood. As you suggested, too much can go wrong with that.
