How big of a floor jack do I need for basic maintenance and to install a teraflex leveling kit to my JTR? How much lift height specifically. I’m not oppose to taking the tires off as well if it makes a difference.

You will need to take the tires/wheels off. You need to disconnect shocks and more. You have tall jack stands also?

I knew about disconnecting shocks and whatnot, just have seen videos of people do it without removing tires. It doesn’t bother me to do so though if it makes it easier. And no, I will need to purchase jack stands to match the lift height of whatever jack I purchase.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, but they will be in your way, and it will be quicker and easier to just remove them.

Using stuff you have in your garage. You need truck jack stands that you can put on the frame, you need to take the wheels off, and you need a jack. Here is a picture doing my lift kit. If it is a bigger job, you can use two jacks to tilt the axle to get the spacing you need. I also have some 4x4 and 4x6 wood blocks in my garage that I can use to move the body by the hitch if I need to. For a spacer lift, you will only need the one jack and the two good truck jack stands.

Right, I’m just curious on if a 21” jack is high enough or do I need to spend a little more for a higher reach?

Their best 3-ton is the real deal. Bought one recently after noticing a few local shops swore by them. Not cheap at $200 but for personal use it would last many years.

ESCO makes the best jackstands for the price and personally, get the pin ones over the ratcheting type. Pins are much less likely to double shear as a ratchet is to skip a tooth and fall.

Should be fine but more reach is always nice if not too much more. Worst case you can jack at the axle to get maximum frame height for the jackstands then let the axle drop... you'll be removing tires in any case.

Debatable. I much prefer the ratcheting type
