Same here, traded a CLK350 when I got my Glad, feel same about the culture. We have a great local group.I saw someone else posted a question about if the Jeep gladiator was your first Jeep and it made me curious. The gladiator is my first Jeep, I’m coming from only owning sports cars. I have to say I really enjoy all of the accessories you can purchase and being part of such a huge car culture. So have you owned other Jeep’s or is the gladiator your first jeep?
Sadly with the way things are going it seems that way. Or they will tax the crap out of gas to push the move to some kind of self driving BS. Now don't get me wrong I would totally rock a self driving tesla as a commuter, but not as my only car. I also like owning my vehicles and I see the path of electric cars turning into some kind of subscription services with battery swaps and all kind of other BS where you never actually get to buy your vehicle.Im a little sad here - this is my first but I've wanted one since i was a kid. I'm sad that my kids are not going to be driving jeeps like I had growing up. Too much safety BS, electric motors etc. In the future are we going to see Jeeps with roof racks to hold big batteries? Batwing solar chargers? Hitch mounted wind turbines? Maybe I'm a curmudgeon but dino juice is pretty damn convenient when you are totally off grid.
I got mine with the 6MT so my kids could learn on it. I plan on covering up the camera or pulling the fuse on it when they have it. Also I need to figure out how to disable the hill hold start feature - once they know what the hand brake is for and can reverse up hill into a parking space (Think San. Fran driving) then they can have it back to normal... according to my wife I am the mean dad...Sadly with the way things are going it seems that way. I like the technology in the jeep to an extent (android auto, large display for navigation) but other things just feel like too much. My kids are still confused as hell that I look behind me instead of using the camera (hard to break 16 years of habit). Like my kids might be some of the last that truely learn how to drive fully. seems so strange.
