I am gathering data for anyone having/had issues with gear disengagement with the 6 speed manual transmission? Did you resolve the issue? Please post your story below. I understand that this is the Gladiator forum but I am gathering info from the Gladiator community as it has the same transmission as the JL Wrangler.

I have a 2019 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with the V6 engine and 6 speed manual transmission. The vehicle is bone stock with 26,000 km (16,000 miles). 2nd gear seems to pop out of gear (disengage back to neutral position) usually at low speeds (30 km/h (19 mph)) and low RPMs. It usually happens from down shifting 3rd gear to 2nd gear.

I took the vehicle to the local dealership to diagnose the issue for the first time yesterday. They performed a reprogram to the powertrain module and topped off the transmission fluid. This did NOT resolve the issue. They claimed to have test drove the vehicle and could not recreate the issue.

I took the vehicle back to the dealership for its 2nd diagnose. The dealership have confirmed that the transmission has an issue and will be replacing 2nd gear and the syncro.

I am currently waiting for the 68334913AB - Synchronizer that is on back order.

So far there has been 7 Jeeps with the same issue.

After browsing the forums a bit longer, I have found several threads on transmission grind/scraping/raddle/noise. My transmission issues started with a light grind noise in second gear, which eventually lead to the gear disengagement. Weather these issues are related is unknown.

I am at 15k miles and I'm starting to feel weird vibration, almost like it wants to pop out of second gear, but it doesn't. only feel it on hills under load as of right now. I haven't seen or heard about any other 23's with this issue, only the mentioned ones in this thread. Curious what will come of this.

Likely nothing will come of it, since the OP was two years ago. But, there is the recall on the clutch...

I was just coming here to start a thread on this, but this is VERY appropriate, so I will just take it over.
At the end of last year, my transmission started popping out of second gear at around 10,000 miles. It gradually worsened until it would rarely stay in second gear. I took it to the dealership and had it replaced under warranty. They said the clutch looked good.

Fast forward to today. I've been noticing second gear acting off lately. It feels like it pops out of second gear, but then under throttle it is still in gear.

So my two questions:

What could cause the physical feel of disengagement (through the shifter) without actual disengagement?

Is there anything that could cause this problem that isn't contained within the metal walls of the transmission?

I chocked the first time up to a random faulty transmission. But to have it happen again has me wondering. These are good questions for @ShadowsPapa. Throw that vast knowledge at me good sir.

I had this happen in a 911 w/ 6 speed. It’s been so long I can’t remember what the root cause was for sure but I think it was a synchro issue / defect. Was a (relatively) common problem in that era 996. I sold the car and heard much later that the tranny ? itself shortly afterwards.
