I have a '21 JTRD that I absolutely love. But I've noticed something that is possibly concerning, and wanted to find out if anyone knows the normal operating specs. Here goes:
I know these things have cooling issues due to the radiators not being large enough, so I constantly monitor engine oil temp. Normal operating temp (for ME) is between 190 and 210. It's not uncommon to see it rise into the high teens. I was recently traveling uphill with no load in relatively cool Temps (OAT 35-40 degrees) and watched the oil temp peak at 230. I wasn't concerned because the "needle" (if you want to call it that) hadn't even hit halfway on the gage.
I've owned a diesel before ('12 Ford F250 6.7 deleted, SWEET truck) and even towing rarely saw oil temps above 225. So, is this normal for this truck, or should I be concerned? I never had any lights or warning signs, and the truck was steady as a rock.
Would appreciate someone "in the know" chiming in. Thanks.
