Yes, I'm a member of an Auto shop owner's group and there are a few of these guys on there. Many also do mobile module reprogramming too.

Problem is that I see so many issues where dealer just throw parts and never fix the problem in months! This poor guy is a victim......... At what point should the "OE trained/certified" tech be able to diagnose/repair the brand he represents?

I agree fully, I assume the dealers would know about these mobile tech too and do a review of well we aren't figuring it out what other resources are there....

end of the day, you chase pins, if ECU pin 15 is dpf and it's looking for 5.5v and you prob the pin at it's 8.4v and you prob the sensor and it reads 5.5v, time to chase wires...

I have been a diesel mechanic for 23 years and what I have come to realize is they are all parts changers now. The days of troubleshooting and diagnosing are dead unfortunately.

Now I find myself diagnosing, troubleshooting and chasing more wiring issues than anything

I told my wife this morning on IM about your situation and hoped ours won't be the same/similar! We at least got 52K almost trouble free miles before something popped up.

I'm a mechanic/shop owner, but specialize only in the undercar stuff.......I have to wonder if your issue isn't a wiring harness and the parts changers can't see the problem and not capable of diagnosing it. What a nightmare!

I can tell you that I'm not impressed with our dealer's service dept......the SA kept calling the issue with the DEF. I kept correcting him and said "D-P-F/black soot in the tailpipe". He told me same thing........Uh NO, not really. Zero communication since I dropped it off Friday either.....Makes me realize how undervalued an independent shop like mine is.....We're cheaper, I keep clients updated, and strive to have it out in 1-3 days depending on the complexity of the visit.
Dang I would love to get 52k Miles My JLUD is doing Great knock on wood I have 31,000 miles on it, it is a 2021.

I can only think its a wiring issue at this point they have replaced everything on the exhaust system so lets see what they say next. Yeah sadly they don't even let them bypass an issue its like an step by step ok replace this replace that even if they know its another part.

Oh hell that's a pain if they don't answer or call back. haha yeah DEF and DPF are way different for sure how the didn't know that is scary. 1-3 days is dang good.

the first time was dpf and sensors and second time was dpf again but it was clogged due to insufficient fuel pressure and had to wait for a new filter and hpfp
[/QUOTE

How many miles between the two DPF's I already have the new HPFP since its a 23.

Haha Same I have two TDI's and let me tell you chasing damn wires. On the bright side it has allowed me to buy some really fun toys to work on them such as wire tracers and computers. Troubleshooting is dead that's now up to independent shops like crazy's.

I love this truck, but all the eletronic components just create that many more failure points!

The dealer called me today.....they did the pump recall, but claim everything else is functioning as normal........ so the 3-6 trip repair us looking like a possibility.....It already frustrating!

The damn down side of modern vehicles electronics. Same reason we love them creature comforts and what not.

Smh sadly it’s looking that. They chase and replace parts then ok Everything looks good. Then another CEL.

I took my vehicle back it is now showing power train issues. As you have stated it’s for sure electrical no way that many components are going out. I would rather blow the dang motor then have electrical issues, because they never seem to go away without some major chasing or wire harness swapping.

Good luck crazy hopefully this does fix it. But find it hard to believe that your pump was dumping extra fuel.
