After about 5 years I'm no longer a Gladiator owner.

I've always been a Jeep guy, and more than that I'm a 2-door guy at heart. The Gladiator let me stay in a Jeep while also having a truck bed, but any time I'd see an old CJ driving around it caused an ache in my heart.

I recently had an opportunity to purchase a dream CJ-7, and trading in my Gladiator gave me enough to get a little hybrid Ford Maverick for Home Depot trips and paid for this CJ for cruising around town.

So, that's game.

Thanks to everybody here for all of the great information and conversations. This is a really good community.

Sounds like a good game Mike, you have been a good member here helping others. People come and go, perhaps your Glady will show up with the new owner. I can’t really just let ya go without you posting a picture of the CJ!
Take care Mike……Jack

Cool man! I had an 83 CJ it was a blast and tough except for the factory rear axle. The hybrid Maverick is a popular choice at my work and owners seem to love them. Congrats and have fun.

I really get your mindset. I remember my friend, right after high school in 1976 (yea, I'm getting up there), he bought a CJ7 and I bought a Gladiator J-10 pickup about a week apart. Interesting that both had V8's, mine the 360 2 barrel 3 speed and his, the 304 with Quadratrac automatic.

I really liked both vehicles. I think he coveted mine and I coveted his.

But today, I have a '24 TJ Rubicon, my '16 JKU (half doors) and still have my '99 TJ (half doors) that well, I hate to part with, but wife says, and is realistic, that it has to go. At my age, I can't keep too many toys.

But I really understand your love for the CJ. And in my own mind, I still really like my 4.0 manual TJ. But is has to go.

134k, and half of it in two years ('03 and '04) when I was commuting 160 miles on the turnpike R/T daily on a big project. Other than that, everything, and I mean everything is original (except of course tires, shocks, soft top, etc.). Being in Florida, no salt nor rust. Some guy will get a bargain to restore.

Anyway, not to pain myself anymore, I know you will enjoy the CJ7, the speedometer in the middle of the dash, etc. Sorry if I am getting nostalgic.

I understand the need for a CJ. The one i drove in high school eventually became a rock buggy, I catch myself looking for a clean unmolested CJ now and then.

C'mon, you can't mention a CJ-7 and not provide pictures! :)

I had a CJ. It was fun. But it's old equipment and drives like it. My brother had a 3/4 ton Apache pick up truck. It looked cool, but driving it sucked.
You’ll be back.
