Could you take the battery out and leave the fob in the console, taking the key with you?

I would think that water will likely destroy it battery or not ... Not something that id test ... Walmart is your friend ... Get a baggie or hide the key in a dry place ...

I would definitely zip it. I had a raft (Aire Super Puma) and I always had extra room to stash something small someone brought. Dry box/bag is just part of the gear with a raft. That being said I went fishing last weekend and got totally soked with the fob in my pocket and had no prob, but I wouldn't make it a habit.

I don't know about the Gladiator fob for certain, but I can tell you that I've accidentally left key fobs of other vehicles in my pocket, and run them through the washing machine at least twice. Each time, the key fob was fine. I think the first time, I had to replace a battery.

My keys don’t even close fully so I say no.

I brought them back to the dealer when I got the JT in late 2019. Every key there looked the same way.

Have run the gladiator fob through the wash machine... It didn't work initially, but after opening it up to air out, and replacing the battery -- it was good as new.

Do not count on ziploc bags to be waterproof if it get's submerged. They're good for keeping things dry in your pocket or back pack when it's raining. But not if you're going in the water. Get a waterproof case with a gasket. Cheaper than getting a new FOB. Ask me how I know. hahaha.
