I had a key failure. Opened it and the little rubber seal had been breached. Water reached the electrical component and the key has failed.
Keep it dry. Always.

It's even worse here, we launder money.Well, mine went through the washer and dryer and still works ,happened about three months ago, at least the dryer sheet smell went away. I was amazed!…..Jack
Sorry if I’m being a little dense this morning, am on my first cup of coffee. Do you have to take the key apart to see this gap? There was an early batch of keys made that had imperfections in the plastic that didn't allow the battery cover plate to fully snap into place. My set was one of them and the dealership replaced them with functional ones for free under warranty. Make sure everyone checks their keys for this, you can see a slight gap around the battery plate.
That link you posted is exactly what it looks like if you have a faulty key. If you're under warranty they'll replace it for free with one that fully snaps shut.Sorry if I’m being a little dense this morning, am on my first cup of coffee. Do you have to take the key apart to see this gap?
