Got about 1k miles on my JT, and my main complaint is that the keyless entry doesn't work on the tailgate. Has anyone figured out a way to do this? Most of the time that I would want keyless entry, would be when I'm carrying something to put in the bed and don't have a free hand to fumble around with the keys to unlock it. :(

The tailgate would need a keyless sensor in it, I guess the existing latch could be replaced by a setup similar to what the Renegade uses?
Cheers

It's a big miss by Jeep, for me the keyless entry is pretty much useless for this reason.

I’ve got proximity locking on my JT and it also does the tailgate.

If you touch one of the front door handles, when you have proximity locks, the tailgate does unlock. The tailgate handle does not have a sensor and neither do the rear doors.

I WISH I had that, we were going to get it but messed up - if I am correct, you can set it to open only front, or all, in the uconnect screen. Is that correct?

I'm pretty sure the choice is driver's door only or all the doors.

Nope. There is no sensor in the tailgate. It will unlock the tailgate when you grab either front door handle.

I have keyless entry without the proximity lock and mine locks and unlocks the tailgate just fine. You just have to hit the unlock button twice.
Yes but with most cars with a proximity key the trunk/tailgate will unlock when you touch the handle. This is not the case with the JT system. There is no sensor at the tailgate negating the purpose of the system.

One of, if not my top complaint. WHY is there not a sensor on the tailgate?? Hands full means I need to go up to tag one of my two front doors or fumble out the large fob out of my pocket to get into the bed. Mega miss on Jeep and I was fully expecting to have it when I spec’d mine with the option.
