I was delivering a couch today for my in-laws. I pulled into their lower field to get ready and back up to their basement. I was in 2hi when I started backing up the hill. The hill was soft mushy grass kids field like.
I started to ease the gas on as to not spin the tires. The problem was I kept giving it more and more gas and the rpm’s just increased and the truck wouldn’t move. Once I got moving it just felt like unnatural amount of throttle applied. So I just shifted to 4l and it walked right up.
I know there has been some discussion on power loss but in 4hi it was odd.
Was the traction control sensing something and killed power? I have no clue. Anybody have a clue? Or just who cares and get over it lol.

Well…… 37s on 3.73s. Oops maybe I should have added that. A regear is coming soon.
To be fair I remember an occasion where it did this with 33s as well. I have a tazer installed with tire size changed.

lol, a reverse gear you can do 50 MPH in. That is the only problem I have found with reverse in these.

Yeah - reverse is a really high gear in these. That coupled with big tires and that gear ratio? Hmmmmmm..........

They've been making vehicles reverse way too high IMO for years. I can't even back out of the driveway with my little car in reverse - I have to turn it around and drive up in 1 or 2. The automatics in the JT are about as bad.
Can't figure out what's up with that - they think we are trying to get away from something in reverse and need to go FAST? Not good for backing to a boat ramp, I'm sure.

Only reason I ask is because I had the Magnusson supercharger installed, then pulled it after blowing the engine, but I was still running the transmission file meant for the supercharger. It resulted in exactly the same behavior as you’re describing.

My parking sensors will stop me from backing up if the tailgate is down or there's a close by obstruction. Have to disable it via the dash button. It does also beep annoyingly but maybe you're hard of hearing or something .

I’ve found if you stick your leg out and push backwards it helps!

I have a JTR MT with 35s and it’s much better (lower gears) than my Tacoma TRDPro. I guess it’s a matter of scale.

I have a MT with 35s and reversing up a hill absolutely sucks. It's way too tall of a gear to be useful.
