Quick rant/venting...

Does it not blow your mind how little dealers know or care about what's going on? Every local dealer I talk to seems incompetent. They seem to be weeks behind on information. I spend more time updating them then getting any information from them. In fact I have learned absolutely nothing from them. They say they wont do any sort of discount because of high demand so you would think they would research and follow the situation to better serve potential customers.. but nope.. they have their feet on the desk and fingers up their a$$...

Ok typing on my phone is getting old.. done rant.

I mostly agree with you. But I also will say that I am much more passionate about this vehicle than I am about my current job. For many of them it is just a job and they won’t own a gladiator. So they aren’t going to spend 4-5 hours a day in these forums researching like I do. I think FCA also puts them at a little disadvantage because they hold the information til it is time to launch to prevent information leaks. I think you will find that the dealers that plan to purchase one themselves, are very knowledgeable and also spend time in these forums.

A dealership called me this morning, trying to tell me to go to the website, fill it out, then list them as the dealership I want to use....uh...a week late to the party. I can not believe that Jeep doesn’t even give their own company employees the correct information. It’s quite astounding they can even sell a car.

I’ve been through the car buying process 10 times now, and 3 more I did not complete due to the sheer lunacy I encountered. Only 2 of those would I buy from again. The truth is that the typical car buyer is not informed and will “get sold”. They do get talked into something that fits the “What can you pay a month?” range.

This Launch Edition is one of the worst clusters I’ve ever seen. I spent too much time trying to get a couple of details so I would know which dealer to use when I got the Concierge call. I got the email saying all reservations are taken. Then one of the dealers calls me back saying he had ordered 2, one for him and one for his father-in-law. He says he thinks his father in law is going to back out, but he could then sell me that Gladiator, as a USED CAR SALE!!!

I guess I could have thought he was doing me a favor but I’m not 6 years old anymore. I can wait. And I will get it from somewhere else.

I get what you are saying about us being more passionate and normally I would completely agree with you. In this case however, their pay is based on commission. If my job and pay was reliant on commission, you better believe I would study up otherwise I would be terrible at my job...case in point... Its not that hard to pull up google and type Jeep news when you are sitting on the throne or sipping on some coffee :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Oh and yes, FCA has def. dropped the ball in keeping dealers informed IMO. Crazy when you think about how much money is involved and something as basic as communication is a failing point in keeping customers satisfied.

I think some companies forget the internet exists... and that forums like this exist, and that fanboys can be like a counterintelligence unit...

So maybe if this forum didn't exist, the lack of info would probably be Ok...

I agree I'm about done with all the dealers in the Columbus ohio. I've talked to 4. Theyall say they will beat any price I bring up these forums with 6 to 7 % below invoice . They basically laugh and say they are not going below msrp

I am getting the same crap from dealers here in Louisiana! They don't know anything but that they will not be selling below msrp. I have also mentioned that a few dealers were selling below invoice and they laughed in my face saying that's impossible. I did not mention the dealers names that are selling under invoice or where these dealers are located. These local dealers basically told me that if someone is selling under invoice that I had better jump on that offer. So just like I planned before I will be flying to NC to see my man Travis. I was just hoping that a dealer more local would want to take care of a local customer. Boy was I wrong!

I've met with a dealer. MSRP only on orders/off the lot. Other folks that come in off the street and who are not return customers get MSRP plus a $5,000 bump. They will not honor the Tread Lightly discount and apparently FCA hasn't decided yet if that will be good to use on the purchase of a Gladiator. Guess we'll see.

There is one dealership near me that posted that they will be doing $1500 under MSRP on Gladiator orders. Comes out to about 3% under invoice.

Tyson is also near me and they are doing 6% under on the JL so they may also be doing it on the Gladiator.

My regular dealer said they would give me 6.5% under invoice but the deal isn't being extended to others.

One nice thing about Illinois is the amount of dealerships. Gives shoppers many options.

I find it really interesting that many, if not most dealers, try to make it seem like they are selling a Bugatti Vehyron for close to 2 million dollars....

There are literally thousands of Jeep dealers and by the end of the year there will be tens of thousands of Gladiators on their lots...

I have bought cars as far away as Texas and it’s really not a big deal......

I stopped by a dealership today. They told me they could order an LE for me, for 5k over MSRP.
I don’t think you can order them, I thought it was one day only.
Also told me they were getting LEs in a couple weeks, said they’d call me when they come in.
